Keep Your Momentum Through the Holidays
Every year around this time, I hear the same thing from realtors and loan officers.
“I will just take the rest of the year off and start again in January.”
I want to challenge you to do the opposite.
What you do today shows up 90 days from now. If you stop your momentum in December, it could be March or April 2026 before you close your first transaction of the year. Why wait?
You can enjoy the holidays and still feed your business. Here are three strategies that will help you finish the year strong.
Strategy 1: Get in the Holiday Spirit
Have fun. Be festive. Wear the ugly sweater. Bake cookies. Light the menorah. Attend holiday parties. Host a gathering. Volunteer. Collect coats. Donate food. Do a daily act of kindness.
This season is a natural opportunity to meet new people. If you are looking for referral partners or new clients, make friends first. Think like an eight year old. Get out on the playground and connect.
People love to work with people who bring joy, energy, and enthusiasm. Let that be you.
Strategy 2: Be Purposeful
While you are celebrating and socializing, have a goal.
How many new friends do you want to make at each event?
How many calls will you make to past clients or your sphere each day?
It is a perfect opportunity to wish people well. Ask what they are celebrating. Ask what traditions they love. Ask what they are looking forward to in 2026.
Listen to learn and connect.
Support their goals and share your own. Have a strong answer ready for questions like “How is the market?” or “What are rates?” that allows you to capture contact information and schedule an appointment.
These two questions are an international signal for “Book a meeting.”
Strategy 3: Have a System
This is how you turn new friends into new clients.
Have a system for follow up.
Use a lead capture tool like Percy or your CRM
Block 90 minutes a day, five days a week, for follow up
Call new contacts to schedule appointments
Call your past clients and sphere
Complete any promised support items
Add new names to your CRM and campaigns
Following up consistently proves you are reliable and trustworthy. These simple actions build a foundation of referrals for years.
